A Storm Approaches Chatham, October 2006
Great ominous masses of cumulous swept over peaks of the Taconics and the Hudson toward Chatham creating a stark rift between earth and the heavens, trailing ghost-like specters of gray sheets of rain.
A great tapestry of brilliant, vibrant colors—crimson maple, gold beech, rusty oak—waited silently on the gently undulating land for the onslaught.
Soon, and imperceptibly, the sun would return again in yet another season, driving life from the decay and tumult of that day.
Living a life would be much like the storm’s approach and its aftermath.
Great expectation…discomforting turmoil…and a small place and time from which to watch such wonders, as a storm approaching Chatham.
